A program which integrates the four pillars of the ABS CBN Foundation Inc. (AFI) – Bantay Bata, E-Media / Educational T.V., Bantay Kalikasan and Bayan Microfinance – BayaniJuan (The Heroes of Juan) aims to rehabilitate the most impoverished and disadvantaged regions in the Philippines. Launched in 2007, this comprehensive campaign came to be following AFI’s years of involvement in various rehabilitation efforts across the country. With each of these hard-hit regions requiring assistance and aide in numerous aspects, it was but natural that AFI combines the efforts of its key programs into one giant project.

Among the areas named as key target sites for 2008 is the province of Bicol, in Southern Luzon. Situated along the Pacific seaboard, Bicol was battered by two powerful typhoons in December 2006 and the whole province has been slow to recover since. AFI believes that with the initiation of an all-embracing program that provides childcare and nutrition, education, environmental rehabilitation and microfinance, Bicol and other key target sites of BayaniJuan could eventually rise again.
