ETV Garners Awards for Excellence

The Educational TV (ETV) program was recently graced anew with various awards for excellence in its mission to support and improve education in the Asian region. Among these is the prestigious Asian Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) awards, which named ETV an excellence awardee runner-up, from over 170 entries and 120 companies in 15 countries.

Aside from the Asian CSR, ETV also earned recognition from the Turquoise TRT International Radio Competitions in Atalya, Turkey, which named the E-Media radio science program, “Bago ‘Yan Ah!” (“That’s New!”) a finalist for best educational radio programming for its episode on alternative and renewable energy.

In the Philippines, the Philippine Quill Awards honored ETV with its Merit Award for 2008. The Philippine Quill is the equivalent of the International Association of Business Communicators’ Gold Quill Awards, and it acknowledges organizations for exceptional practices and achievements in communication strategies.

Another Philippines communications association, The Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters sa Pilipinas (KBP – League of Philippine Broadcasters), in its 17th Annual Awards, named the ETV show “Sine’skwela” (“School Theater”) the Best Children’s Program for its episode on global warming. “Bago ‘Yan Ah!” host Angelo Palmones was named Best Science and Technology Journalist for Radio.

The awards and appreciation received by the ETV program this past year is in large part due to the support from the program’s many donors and friends across the world, who believe that education remains the key to giving our children a better tomorrow.
