About ABS CBN Foundation, Inc. - USA
A Better World for our Children
The ABS CBN Foundation Inc., (USA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to raising funds to help improve the lives of abused and disadvantaged children and women in the Philippines. The AFI USA accomplishes its mission through the backing and programs of the ABS-CBN Foundation in the Philippines, which began its mission a little over a decade ago, through the initiatives of its parent corporation, the ABS CBN Broadcasting Company.
Among the programs espoused by the AFI USA are: Bantay Bata (Child Watch), a 24-hour child abuse rescue operation, Educational TV (ETV), a value formation and curriculum enhancement program for public elementary school children, Bantay Kalikasan (Nature Watch), an environmental campaign promoting and protecting the country’s natural resources, Bayan Microfinance (Community Microfinance), a community-based, poverty-alleviation program equipping deserving individuals and groups with the skills necessary for start up industry and Sagip Kapamilya (Saving the Family Members), a calamity relief and rehabilitation program.
In May 2008, the AFI USA launched the BayaniJuan initiative (Country of Juan), which brings together all of the above-mentioned ABS CBN Foundation programs and more in a comprehensive campaign designed to rehabilitate the most impoverished regions and communities in the Philippines. Preliminary targets for the project include the provinces of Bicol and Pampanga – two of the most poverty- and calamity-stricken areas in the country.
The AFI US is a proud member of the ABS CBN Global family, which includes The Filipino Channel (TFC), a US-based television and web media content provider which serves Filipino-American communities throughout the North American continent.
